I just returned from my 90-day report at the Patong Immigration office and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. Previously, in this article, I described how to do the 90-day check-in, including how to complete the “form for alien to notify of staying longer than 90 days,” also known as the “TM .47”. During my last 90-day check-in, I received a computer-generated receipt of notification form. I was a little surprised as these had always been hand written by the immigration officer. So, when I did my latest 90-day report, all I had to do is hand over my passport. The immigration officer scanned the bar code and immediately printed a new receipt of notification form with my new check-in date. I signed it, then I was on my way.

So, once you have received your first computer-generated receipt of notification, you do not have to fill out the “TM .47” nor do you need to provide copies of your passport. But, the first time you do this, you may want to bring copies of your passport just in case.

Update (October 14, 2014): A completed TM .47 and copies of your passport’s information page, visa and re-entry card are once again required.
