There are so many things to do on Phuket, and there are even more exciting places to see within one hour of Thailand’s biggest island. When you take a language course at Patong Language School, or sign up for one of the TEFL teacher training courses at TEFLPlus you’ll have a hard time finding the time to do it all.

Just off the coast of Phang Nga about one our north of Phuket you’ll find the Similan Islands. The Similans are well-known for being one of the top diving sites in the world. Snorkel through schools of tropical fish, jump off the top deck of your tour boat into the crystal-clear water or simply relax and take in the picturesque surroundings. Soft, white coral sand covers the island’s secluded beaches, and you’ll never be more than 5 minutes from a coral reef.

The Similan Islands are open during the high season from November to March and are closed the rest of the year to preserve the coral reefs. One to three day tours leave Phuket daily, and offer door-to-door transportation.
